FINANCIAL
- A PATIENT UNABLE TO WORK MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR TEMPORARY DISABILITY. Speak to the hospital social worker AND the
county social worker - they likely know resources in your area. (You
could also try asking at whatever place the patient is getting
treatments.)
- INSURANCE - talk to the hospital's social
worker and/or your county's social services department, to see what
help might be available to him, and perhaps other benefits for your
family.
- RESOURCES- The social worker has sources and can send out the referrals your going
to need you can do searches as well to find out what other resources
there are out there.
- POSSIBLE RESOURCES www.state.ok.us Look for departments such as Health & Human Services, Social Services, Family Programs, etc.

- CANCER FUND OF AMERICA has good information on it.
- THE PATIENT ADVOCATE FOUNDATION has a state-by-state directory of financial resources. The foundation also has a program for "co-pay relief"
(if your co-pay is, say, 20 percent really 20 percent of a $200,000
hospital bill is a lot of money). Since many financial assistance
programs are for one specific illness, it's worth searching around on
the Internet.
RIDES- The local chapter of the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
often have volunteers who will drive patients to appointments &
respite care. The ROAD TO RECOVERY program provides transportation for cancer patients to and from radiation and chemotherapy treatments in the Tulsa metropolitan area.
