HONORING ALL AMERICAN VETERANS

Oklahoma American Veterans News is totally about helping Veterans, whom
we honor and respect. Please accept our sincere appreciation and gratitude.

There are many businesses out there who wish to show their own appreciation
by offering discounts to American Veterans.


BUSINESSES PROVIDING ONGOING VETERANS DISCOUNTS 

Many businesses have unadvertised veterans and military discounts  so
always ask if a business has one. (Your Military or Veterans ID is proof that
you are one of our deserving Veterans.)


AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly's,  Lowes and Home Depot are probably the most
known discounts. But, always ask as many restaurants, fast food places, 
hotels,  hair cuts, cell phone providers,  oil changes, fitness gyms, retail 
wholesale tools, carpet cleaners,  consignment clothing stores, pressure  
washing services, car windshield repair, car rentals, entertainment, (Disney
and  Universal Theme Parks, Discovery Cruise lines, the zoo, state parks) etc.
When you buy a new car--GM, Ford and some of the others do offer savings.


Disney World Ticket Discounts 4 Day Base ticket for $99. Offer expires July 31, 2010
(Tickets valid until 9/30/2010.) (Active and Retired  U.S.  Military Personnel)  Purchase
tickets for up to 5 family members or friends.  Tickets must be purchased at theme park
ticket windows & can be upgraded to an annual seasonal & weekday select passes.
Must show a valid United States Military ID card. Activated members of the National
Guard or Reservists must present their orders in addition to a Military ID card.

    EMPLOYMENT

    Supporting the Employment Success of Returning Service Members with TBI & PTSD  America's Heroes at Work, (U.S. Department of Labor Web site) addresses the employment challenges that face those living with the wounds of war. They offer information on how to hire a veteran and resources for employers on how to manage returning service members.


    WOUNDED VETERANS

  • Innovative Programs Give Vets a 2nd Chance Transition Training Academy Teaches Wounded Vets New Skills http://abcnews.go.com/WN/WoodruffReports/story?id=6229479&page=1 

  • Transition Training Academy (TTA),  helps wounded veterans make the switch from war to civilian life, by providing IT training for jobs.

  • Vacations for recently Wounded Veterans

  • Wounded Warrior Project, seeks to help vets with programs to meet their needs post-war.

  • Wounded Warrior Backpacks are care packs sent to vets to provide comfort during their pain.

  • Air Compassion For Veterans - to ensure that no financially stressed veteran / active duty military person or their family member(s) is denied access to distant specialized medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or rehabilitation for lack of a means of long-distance medical air transportation. ACV is committed to the ongoing healing process of our wounded warriors and will provide transport for activities that aid in the process.
