In 1988, Henry Hall, Phil Adair and Olin Harris, themselves veterans, realized the need and started Oklahoma American Veterans News to help others, doing most of the work themselves.
Over the years, (having seen OAVN's track record with any project they gotten involved with) many of us asked Mr. Hall to help us on other projects besides those just for vets. Helping needy children, abused women, and providing food baskets for the hungry were just a few that he quietly stepped up and quickly made a success.
Reading through the stacks of letters of appreciation and newspaper clippings about Oklahoma American Veterans News, while building this website, was overwhelming. Having been mentored in volunteering by Mr. and Mrs. Hall since the 1980s I have absolutely no idea, as the webmaster, how to show a good sampling of the many thank you letters they have in their files. Henry Hall has received letters of appreciation for Oklahoma American Veterans News from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Department of Human Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, Salvation Army, Tulsa Senior Services, United Methodist Cooperatives Ministries, Family and Children's Services, Action Inc....and the list goes on and on...and on!
