A new project for OAVN in 2009 .........
DOT'S
CHRISTMAS STORE
Imagine
being in the hospital with no Christmas gifts to give to your family or others
who might drop by with a gift for you. An already stressful situation becomes
more depressing.
Now,
imagine how you would feel if someone made sure you had Christmas gifts to give
to your loved ones.
OAVN is supporting The Christmas Store whose goal is to collect enough gifts so that EVERY Veteran in the Jack C. Montgomery
VA Hospital
has a gift to give a loved one.
The
Christmas Store may end up being a Christmas themed cart pushed from bed to bed giving Veterans the opportunity to shop. The most important thing is that these
deserving men and women feel good that they have a gift to give
to a loved one.
Gifts can be dropped off for The Christmas Store at SportClips (Haircuts for men).
SportClips
open
7 days a week, is located in Tulsa across from Abuelos (near 71st and Hwy
169)
and in Owasso, at Smith Farm Marketplace.

Our volunteers have been buying and donating gifts themselves. We want to make sure that we have enough gifts and no Veteran is left out. Thank you for helping us make it a reality.
SUGGESTIONS FOR GIFTS:
Veterans range from women and men just now returning from war to WWII veterans. The loved one they need a gift for might be a spouse of 50 years or a new bride; maybe a gift for a sibling or a grandchild.
The easiest way for us to tell you what would be suggested would be to look at your own family. What kind of things would you want to give one of your loved ones in the $10-$15 range? (We would like to keep it around there so it is equitable for all, whether they get first choice or are the last to choose.)
Maybe in your "gift closet" you have that "great find" that you purchased on sale....or maybe you have that nice gift from your boss that just wasn't to your taste. These unused gifts are most welcome for the holiday store.
Gifts should be unwrapped so Veterans can "shop" to decide what they would like to give. "Price tags" on gifts will say "Paid in Full", in recognition of their service to our country.
Small jewelry gift boxes or jewelry bags are very welcome. We would also appreciate tissue paper and gift bags, if you have some extra. (This will allow us to get to everyone quickly, instead of having to stop to wrap gifts.)
